Bill "Cowboy" Miles
was born and raised in Southern West Virginia. His father was a Firefighter and Chaplain.
Growing up in the Appalachia mountains hard work and chores were part of everyday life. Being on the Fire Department was a pathway towards his desire to serve his Country. Bill has 3 brothers who also served in the military.
Bill joined the United States Air Force and served from 1989-1993 as a Crash Fire Rescue Firefighter Serving in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and 1 tour in South Korea.
Upon leaving the military bill moved to Northeast Texas, where he worked on a ranch for 9 months before moving to Montana to work as a firefighter for the USFS.
Bill continued to serve his community as a 1st Responder in Search & Rescue an EMT, Firefighter and a Deputy. He joined VFW Post 2252 in 2020 as a Life Member and has served as both the Jr and Senior Vice Commander for District 1 and both the Jr and Sr vice Commander for Post 2252.
Bill's passion for Veterans and 1st Responders includes 18 years on 7 different Board of Directors.
His hobbies include riding fence and working with livestock to writing Cowboy Poetry and connecting with his brothers and sisters that served.
