Bill "Cowboy" Miles was born and raised in Southern West Virginia. His father was a Firefighter and Chaplain. Growing up in the Appalachia mountains hard work and chores were part of everyday life. Being on the Fire Department was a pathway towards his desire to serve his Country. Bill has 3 brothers who also served in the military. Bill joined the United States Air Force and served from 1989-1993 as a Crash Fire Rescue Firefighter Serving in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and 1 tour in South Korea. Upon leaving the military bill moved to Northeast Texas, where he worked on a ranch for 9 months before moving to Montana to work as a firefighter for the USFS. Bill continued to serve his community as a 1st Responder in Search & Rescue an EMT, Firefighter and a Deputy. He joined VFW Post 2252 in 2020 as a Life Member and has served as both the Jr and Senior Vice Commander for District 1 and both the Jr and Sr vice Commander for Post 2252. Bill's passion for Veterans and 1st Responders includes 18 years on 7 different Board of Directors. His hobbies include riding fence and working with livestock to writing Cowboy Poetry and connecting with his brothers and sisters that served. His passion for Veterans always includes the statement "It's all about saving 1"
